Soil & Groundwater Remedial Alternative Evaluations and System Design

  • Project director for the Sky Harbor International Airport soil and groundwater remediation project in Phoenix, Arizona. Project included remedial feasibility studies, full scale remedial system design, remedial construction management and system operation to treat an approximate 750,000 gallons of Jet A fuel product release.

  • Provided preliminary engineering design and life cycle cost analyses for Freeport-McMoRan associated with a large scale (>10,000 gpm) sulfate groundwater pump and treatment system. Evaluated regional hydraulic conductivities and storage coefficients through implementation of a large scale aquifer testing program to refine groundwater capture zones of proposed remedial well field.

  • Program director of the Terminal Area Monitoring System at the Sky Harbor International Airport. Project included implementation of soil and soil vapor surveys, design and installation of groundwater/vapor monitoring wells, engineering design and construction supervision of an interception sparge curtain system to control the migration of liquid phase and dissolved phase petroleum hydrocarbon contamination.

  • Project manager for the Los Reales Landfill remediation system. Provided engineering services to upgrade the existing groundwater extraction and treatment system for chlorinated volatile organic contaminants, to allow treatment capacity to be doubled while decreasing mineral precipitation.

  • Project manager of a groundwater biosparging project for Texaco. Project included design, construction, and operation of the remedial system for a petroleum hydrocarbon release that had impacted multiple off site properties.

  • Project manager of a chlorinated hydrocarbon site for the Salt River Project in Phoenix. Performed Soil Vapor Extraction and sparging pilot testing. Designed and constructed full scale soil remediation system.

  • Project manager of a soil remediation project at a bulk petroleum hydrocarbon facility for Equiva Services. Characterized, designed, constructed, and operated remedial system and obtained site closure in a 7 month time frame.

  • Construction and engineering design manager of a groundwater remediation system for the Pinal Creek Group. Project included 404 permitting, archeological/endangered wildlife surveys, property access, constructive permitting, 3,000 gallons per minute wellfield, vertical turbine pumping stations, telemetry system, and 9 mile HDPE pipeline.

  • Construction and engineering design manager of a groundwater remediation system for Cyprus Miami Mining Corporation. Groundwater withdrawal system included multiple wellfields coupled with in line booster stations and 3 mile HDPE distribution piping.

  • Project manager for a Soil Vapor Extraction design project at the Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. Project included installation of vapor extraction and vapor monitoring wells, vapor and soil sampling for contaminants, and physical parameters and development of numerical multi phase contaminant transport model to design full scale soil remediation system and predict cleanup performance.

  • Project manager for the Thomas Price Fuel Service Center interim soil remediation project for the City of Tucson. Designed interim Soil Vapor Extraction system. Constructed a dual screened vapor extraction well. Provided construction management of a propane fired thermal/catalytic oxidizer. Provided operation and maintenance of remediation system.

  • Project manager for a large scale in situ biological remediation and vapor extraction program for the Hoechst Celanese Corporation. Project included preparation of corrective action plan for submittal to Texas Water Commission, vapor phase and biological modeling, remediation design and construction, biological sampling, gas phase tracer tests, microbe counting and bench scale culture experiments.
