Petroleum Hydrocarbon Remediation

  • Project director for the Sky Harbor International Airport soil and groundwater remediation project in Phoenix, Arizona. Project included remedial feasibility studies, full scale remedial system design, remedial construction management and system operation to treat an approximate 750,000 gallons of Jet A fuel product release.

  • Senior consultant to the City of Phoenix Aviation Department to provide oversight of Honeywell remedial efforts of a large petroleum hydrocarbon release. Responsibilities included negotiation of remediation agreement, numerical modeling of bioremediation processes, and evaluation of remedial design.

  • Project manager of a groundwater biosparging project for Texaco. Project included design, construction, and operation of the remedial system for a petroleum hydrocarbon release that had impacted multiple off site properties.

  • Project manager of a soil remediation project at a bulk petroleum hydrocarbon facility for Equiva Services. Characterized, designed, constructed, and operated remedial system and obtained site closure in a 7 month time frame.

  • Project Manager of a groundwater and soils remediation project at a Shell Oil Products Site. Scope of Work included direct free product removal, biosparging, vapor extraction, direct injection of an oxygen release compound slurry, and barrier trench design and construction.

  • Project manager for a groundwater sparging and vapor extraction design project at the Naval Amphibious Base in San Diego. Simulated unsaturated and saturated zone contaminant removal rates and designed full scale soil and groundwater remediation system using a multi phase contaminant transport model.

  • Project manager for the Thomas Price Fuel Service Center in Tucson, Arizona. Completed the full scale corrective action plan for both soils and groundwater. Conceptual design for soils included a combined vapor extraction and bioventing methodology. Groundwater conceptual design entailed natural attenuation assisted through hydraulic plume stabilization.

  • Project manager for a Soil Vapor Extraction design project at the Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. Project included installation of vapor extraction and vapor monitoring wells, vapor and soil sampling for contaminants, and physical parameters and development of numerical multi phase contaminant transport model to design full scale soil remediation system and predict cleanup performance.

  • Project manager for the Thomas Price Fuel Service Center interim soil remediation project for the City of Tucson. Designed interim Soil Vapor Extraction system. Constructed a dual screened vapor extraction well. Provided construction management of a propane fired thermal/catalytic oxidizer. Provided operation and maintenance of remediation system.

  • Project manager of a petroleum hydrocarbon feasibility study for Texaco Environmental Services. Project encompasses site characterization and implementation of both soil and groundwater pilot investigations using Soil Vapor Extraction, bioremediation, and in situ groundwater sparging.

  • Project manager of the operation and maintenance of a Soil Vapor Extraction system for Texaco Environmental Services. Operation entailed oversight and monitoring of a mobile 250 standard cubic feet per minute extraction system and a 25 kilowatt thermal oxidizer used to treat vapor prior to atmospheric discharge.

  • Project manager for vapor extraction/bioremediation feasibility study of diesel contamination for Arizona Public Service. Project involved design and implementation of vapor monitoring program and design and installation of two air extraction/injection systems with carbon treatment.
