Landfill Investigations and Methane Migration Evaluations

  • Managed the investigation of three landfills in Cairo, Egypt . Evaluated vertical and lateral extent of refuse, accessed hydrogeologic conditions, designed and installed vapor monitoring wells, and conducted field measurements of landfill gas production.

  • Project manager for the Los Reales Landfill remediation system. Provided engineering services to upgrade the existing groundwater extraction and treatment system for chlorinated volatile organic contaminants, to allow treatment capacity to be doubled while decreasing mineral precipitation.

  • Provided principle oversight of the LA Landfill ground water remediation project in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Project entailed engineering design and construction management of the groundwater pump and treatment system for chlorinated volatile organic contaminants.

  • Provided remedial investigation oversight and supervision of the closed Silverbell municipal solid waste landfill in Tucson, Arizona for a large tetrachloroethylene groundwater plume. Project included design, installation and monitoring of groundwater and vapor monitoring systems; and engineering design, construction and operation of a soil vapor extraction system.

  • Project manager for the operation and maintenance of active methane extraction systems at landfills for the City of Tucson. Project included design and construction of methane monitoring wells and routine sample collection from methane monitoring systems.

  • Project manager for a multiple landfill investigation for the City of Tucson to evaluate volatile organic concentrations and methane distribution in the subsurface.

  • Project Manager for the Salt River Pima Indian Landfill northeast of Scottsdale, Arizona. Project entailed numerical modeling of groundwater flow to predict water level changes at the Salt River Landfill as impacted by recharge from the Granite Reef Underground Storage Project (GRUSP). Developed groundwater recharge operation guidelines to protect landfill from elevated groundwater levels.
